The Grinch has not stolen
our very special community event this year and the Bumper Christmas Lights Switch on Event is all set to go on Saturday 20th November, 10am to 6pm in Colquhoun Square. There will be an all day Christmas Market and this year the event will be even better as it is supported by EventScotland through Scotland’s Event Recovery Fund.
This is a special day in the town calendar as Helensburgh Elves light up the town for seven weeks over Christmas and into the New Year and have a jolly caper in the square.
Come down and join in the fun, the market will open at 10am offering fresh produce, crafts, gifts and drinks and throughout the day over two hundred community entertainers will give us a fantastic show of local talent on the stage beginning with a Family Fun Fitness lark.
Family rides will be running all day including tea cups, chairoplanes bungie jumps and the big Miami, lots of choice and thrills, just decide how brave you are.
There will be all day street food in the Food Village and River Radio will be broadcasting live from the event with details of the day’s activities and will welcome all our entertainers to the stage.
At around 4.30 Santa will make his Big entrance. This year he will arrive on a heritage FIRE ENGINE behind his very special friends in a very elegant Daimler limousine. Santa thinks riding on the fire engine will be good practice for all the flying around he has to do on Christmas Eve.
There will be two countdowns this year, first for the new bespoke feature, “Thank you NHS” and the second to switch on the rest of the lights in the town, including new features including Rudolf kindly supported by ACHA and the National Lottery Fund. Santa is looking forward to a great welcome once again in Helensburgh, see you there.
